Edge Caching.

By deploying servers around the world, it means that you have the option of serving both static and dynamic elements of your website closer to your visitors. You have full control over this and also have the option of completely disabling this if required.

Global Edge Caching

We automatically cache static content at our edge, ensuring rapid delivery of Images, JavaScript and CSS files to all your visitors around the world and you can control how long we store this content.

If you've updated your website and want to ensure all users are seeing the latest content before the cache expires, you can also run an instant Cache Purge. The more content you cache, the faster your website will load.

Dynamic Cache

Our Dynamic Cache provides the ability to cache any resource at our edge by using public Cache-Control and Expires headers. Once enabled, you can start storing content in this cache by configuring your application to emit those headers. Any responses that contain a cookie will not be cached.

This gives you full page dynamic content caching ensuring rapid TTFB times for all resources regardless of visitor location. Advanced users can check the output of the X-CDN-Cache-Status header to see whether a resource was cached.

Custom Cache Settings

Customise a number of Edge Caching options best for your site.

  • Image Cache - Set how long we should store images at our edge.
  • CSS Cache - Set how long we should store stylesheets and fonts at our edge.
  • JavaScript Cache - Set how long we should store JavaScript files at our edge.

Purge Cache

At any time you can clear all cached files which will force all edge servers to fetch fresh copies from your site. Purging the cache may temporarily degrade performance for your website.

Why would I need to Purge?

If you have made changes to your site and you wanted to see the changes reflected immediately then you may need to purge the cache. However, our CDN will fetch your sites for you every hour to make sure the freshest content is served.

Security Headers

Manage Security Headers in order to control how your CDN can be accessed. These include X-Frame-Options, X-Content-Type-Options, Referrer-Policy, Strict-Transport-Security, X-XSS-Protection & Content-Security-Policy.

  • X-Frame-Options - Used to indicate whether or not a browser should be allowed to render a page in a <frame>, <iframe>, <embed> or <object>.
  • X-Content-Type-Options - Is used by the server to indicate that the MIME types advertised in the Content-Type headers should not be changed and be followed.
  • Referrer-Policy - This controls how much referrer information (sent via the Referer header) should be included with requests.
  • Strict-Transport-Security - This response header lets a web site tell browsers that it should only be accessed using HTTPS, instead of using HTTP.
  • X-XSS-Protection - This response header is a feature of Internet Explorer, Chrome and Safari that stops pages from loading when they detect reflected cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks.
  • Content-Security-Policy - This response header allows web site administrators to control resources the user agent is allowed to load for a given page.

Development Mode

You can temporarily disable all caching to allow you to complete development tasks on the website without worrying about cached data. Caching is then automatically re-enabled after a period of 3 hours.

Web Optimisation.

Use our Web Optimisation suite to automatically apply web performance best practices to optimise your website and improve your page speed. All of our optimisation tools are flagged by a "Risk" factor - Low Risk, Medium Risk and High Risk. If you are unsure which tools to enable we offer a One-click Optimisation which applies the most popular optimisation filters that should help improve page loading times without risking website functionality.

We provide our CDN at no extra charge and it is included an all hosting packages across all of our platforms. Other providers might try to sell it as an extra - we include it!

We currently utilise an exclusive number of very well connected datacentres in Northern America and across Europe - These exclusive POPs are usually used by transit providers and hence provide the very best latency using the smallest number of POPs. We essentially pay the premium to place hardware directly in "carrier hotels" and neutral datacentres that all traffic from a region will traverse through.
